WHY HE DESERVES HIS BIG BREAK:

Big guys rule! And if you don't believe that, then watch Donal Logue in
The Tao of Steve (2000).  In this underrated romantic comedy, Logue plays Dex, an overweight, pot-smoking, part-time kindergarten teacher who nevertheless has remarkable luck with women.  His methods are simple--put sex out of your mind when trying to hook up with a woman, lest she smell it on you "like shit on a shoe", "be excellent in their presence", whether it involves throwing a frisbee around or using words like "solipsistic", and finally, retreating when the woman shows real interest.  While this Zen-like philosophy probably wouldn't work for most less than stunning men in real life, in the movie Donal Logue is so cute and likeable that you find yourself thinking, "Yeah, I can see why the chicks dig it."

Born in Canada and previously a student at both Harvard and the British-American Drama Academy in London, Logue's first prominent acting job was as the babbling cab driver Jimmy in a number of MTV promotions back in the early 90's.  He appeared in films both highbrow
(Gettysburg, Little Women) and low, lowbrow (3 Ninjas Knuckle Up).  In 1998, he played an unlikely vampire in Blade ("I'm gonna be naughty! I'm gonna be a naughty vampire god!"), and since then his movies have grown steadily more prestigious, including Runaway Bride and The Patriot (the Mel Gibson movie, not the Steven Seagal version).  However, playing the undeniably charming Dex in The Tao of Steve will be a tough act for Donal Logue to top.
