BIRTHDATE: 1969 (exact date unknown) BIRTHPLACE: Baltimore, Maryland MARITAL STATUS: Single, but reportedly engaged to actress Olivia D'Abo (Fred Savage's sister on TV's The Wonder Years) WHY HE DESERVES HIS BIG BREAK: Much like Kevin Corrigan, Thomas Jane has a face that deserves stardom, but, intentionally or not, has consistently taken roles that don't allow him maximum exposure to the public. The closest he got was 1999's Deep Blue Sea, a killer shark movie that didn't exactly make audiences forget about Jaws. Born in Baltimore, Thomas Jane made his acting debut playing Romeo on stage in India, of all places. His first major film appearance was playing Mark Wahlberg's drug buddy Todd Parker in 1997's Boogie Nights (he was the third party besides Wahlberg and John C. Reilly during the hilariously tense 'Sister Christian' drug buy scene). Other notable roles since then include playing the title character in the bizarre romantic triangle drama The Velocity of Gary, and Elisabeth Shue's learning disabled boyfriend in the better off forgotten Molly. In addition, he played Philip Baker Hall's character as a young man in 1999's Magnolia, and recently appeared as Mickey Mantle in the made for cable 61*. Next up for Thomas Jane is a starring role in Dreamcatcher, the film adaptation of Stephen King's "shit weasel" sci-fi thriller. We definitely sense stardom in his future. |
