BIRTHDATE: February 7, 1962
BIRTHPLACE: Yemen
MARITAL STATUS: ????
WHY HE DESERVES HIS BIG BREAK:
Few actors truly have a talent for one-man stage performances, and even less have a talent for improvisational theater, but Eddie Izzard has both.  He was actually a staple of British TV and theater for over eight years before making his film debut in 1996's The Secret Agent.  Since then, numerous comedic spoken word performances by Izzard have been filmed and released in the US (including Dress to Kill, which won two Emmy awards).  He was the most memorable part of the less than memorable Mystery Men, playing Tony P., the disco loving henchman of Casanova Frankenstein.  "You're Baby Bowler?", he sneers at Janeane Garofalo, "I'm the one that gave your daddy the shaft!"

Most of his movies up to this point (
Velvet Goldmine, Circus, The Criminal) have had little exposure in the United States, but it looks as if 2001 might be Eddie Izzard's year, with a co-starring role in the critically acclaimed Shadow of the Vampire, and starring roles in the upcoming All the Queen's Men and The Cat's Meow, where he will be playing Charles Chaplin.  THAT GUY is officially declaring a Dream Casting Request by suggesting that Eddie Izzard be cast in some movie, any movie as the older brother of Ewan McGregor.
