WHY HE DESERVES HIS BIG BREAK: |
Jack Black is like every annoying guy that sat behind you in school, obnoxious and hilarious all at once. With his most notable roles being Matthew Broderick's best friend Rick in The Cable Guy and John Cusack's music snob co-worker in High Fidelity, his forte seems to playing the second banana who gets all the best lines. |

Born in California, Black got his start by doing backround vocals in the Tim Robbins satire Bob Roberts. Oh yeah, that's another thing--he can sing. He can sing his ass off, as evidenced at the end of High Fidelity, when his character Barry entertains a club crowd with his rendition of 'Let's Get It On'. He's also one half of the comedy-musical duo Tenacious D, who had their own half-hour variety show for two seasons on HBO. |

Black seems tailor-made for most of the roles he accepts, so it's doubtful that we'll be seeing him in any leading man roles, other than the Farrelly Bros. comedy Shallow Hal, any time soon. Which suits us fine--the leading man may always get the girl, but he never gets the best lines. |
