Sydney Party Saturday
19th FebruaryArizona's Bar and
Restaurant
Sydney
played host to chatters from all over the country. It was common
knowledge that this party was gonna be big, but big was an understatement.
It was HUGE!! For myself and many others from interstate, it was
a huge weekend. Sure the party was on the Saturday night, but for
many, it started on Friday night and didn't stop till recovery mode
was launched on the Sunday.
Arriving
in Sydney at 10.30pm on Friday, the nerves of my first aeroplane
flight had long since passed when I jumped into a taxi expecting
a quick trip to the hotel in Oxford St. After a few laps of the
passenger pick up area, the driver decided he wanted to get more
people into the cab than just myself, so began to drum up business.
Whilst he canvassed for an extra fare, coffee rang me and informed
me they were waiting for me, so we could all get to the hotel together.
Without the driver even realising, I grabbed my bag and left fighting
my way through the crowds to find some fellow chatters. Ducking
and weaving through the congestion I couldnt believe my luck as
I quickly caught up with coffee, blue-eyes and Markk at a taxi rank
outside the domestic terminal. After initial greetings, we were
all in a taxi making our way to the city together, laughing and
talking between ourselves and generally having a dig at the driver
enclosed in his protective "bubble". From this point forward
all taxi drivers were then referred to as "bubble boy".
We were welcomed at the hotel by a mob of fellow chatters, who were
eagerly waiting our arrival. BRONNIE, Rusky, Zar, star, hippiechick,
jdcoke, casablanca, Chuckie, Savman, Haley, fluff, steveo, Wicked,
dopey and winnie all greeted us with open arms. No time for showers
etc, lets go party!!!!!!!
And
party we did! Walking to several pubs along Oxford St. and its backstreets,
we finally settled into one place for the remainder of the night.
Other patrons looked on as our rowdy mob, drank to excess and generally
caused mayhem. The proprietors of the establishment overlooked our
mayhemic behaviour, preferring to welcome the injection of money
into their tills. Quite a good move on their part, I must say! Zar
showed off his impressive shooting skills by lining up 5 shots of
something and downing them one after the other. He is the epitomy
of the species known as 'adelaideus partyanimalists'. Many aching
heads and bloodshot eyes, saw the sunrise over Sydney that morning.
After
a day of shopping, sightseeing and more alcoholic escapades, the
time came to embark on our journey into the city. Kell_19 arrived
at our hotel, bearing gifts, photos and many tales from her overseas
jaunt to the USA. We then piled into taxis and fought our way through
the Saturday night traffic. The "bubble boys" were out
in force that evening. Arriving at the Arizona, a group of 12 of
us sat and had dinner, unaware that the table next to us also contained
about 16 fellow chatters. Mandy, the beautiful woman who organised
the evening, arrived to a roaring reception and promptly began the
task of identifying all PondChatters and supplying name tags for
easy identification. People started arriving early and it didn't
take long for the venue to become full, a sea of unknown faces,
wandering from group to group, putting faces to names. As the night
went on, it became apparent that certains areas of the pubs were
just like chatrooms. The #Fun.Peers.40s room was in an alcove adorned
with lounges and coffee tables and hosted by Saint and Ariel, #Australia.VIC.Melbourne
was in another dark alcove and contained ^CpW, Drew1, sockit, naughty-but-nice,
SENATOR, Qtee, turbo, seahorse-dolphin, nancee, LoisLane and Maddi.
#Fun.Poolside was situated at the tables along one side of the room
with Gus, Coffee, markk, Bronnie, Rusky, Amiable, Wicked, dopey,
blackie, winnie, Kell_19, steveo, Pils, M-a-d-o-n-n-a, fluff, hippiechick,
Zar, Summer, speedy, bachelorboy28, Chuckie, zOmBiE^, kokane, Ancient,
Mandy and others. #VirtualChemistry was over by the bar with Mish,
Tulip, tickle-me-elmo, Tinkerbell and their room-mates, #Fun.Peers.30s
was at the edge of the dancefloor with beatiful_smile and her roomies.
Unfortunately there was no #Teens section. haha.
The
dancefloor was a mass of bumping bodies, and throbbing heads all
dancing up a storm in the stickiness of spilt drinks and excess
sweat. Chocolate sauce was used as a creative social lubricant,
as we were all entertained by the idea of licking it off the face
of people we had chatted to but had only just met. As the alcohol
started to render peoples inhibitions useless, the whole place became
#Romance.Married&Flirting, #Romance.SingleAgain and #Romance.BlindDate.
I'm
sure many rumours will start about this party. Who was the female
chatter and the young male chatter who were trying to set a Guiness
Book World record for the longest game of tonsil hockey? And who
was the young female chatter also trying to set a record for the
most amount of male saliva collected? Who was the person who was
violently removed from the premises in a headlock by bouncers, after
wiping out a few people and several tables and chairs? Who wore
Rusky's vodka and raspberry as she slipped on the floor and emptied
the contents of her glass?? No matter what stories circulate regarding
the nights proceedings, just remember the philosophical words that
the legendary Daryl Somers used to say: "You'll never never
know, if you never never go"
