I
arrived at the Brecknock at about 3pm on the Saturday to pay for my
room and welcome the "vegie" bus from Melbourne, but found
myself sitting at the bar having a little drink with Dogga. Dogga
was there, also to meet the bus in from Melbourne but was unable to
stay for the party.
Bronnie and jazz rocked up about half an hour later, with luggage
in tow. Bronnies beloved VW convertible had broken down in the city
and had to be towed away. She wasn't too happy I think. Before too
long turbo23 arrived from his hotel and we all explored the upstairs
rooms. After several phonecalls from people on the bus, they realised
they had gone too far and were somewhere near West Terrace, and with
precise directions from myself, they eventually pulled up outside
the Brecknock at about a quarter to 6. Their weary, drunken, sweaty
bodies sought refuge in the shower, or just relaxing in the bar.
After
dinner, the masses began to arrive. Drifter, fullmoon, Drew1, Tinkerbell,
Tahlia, oncebitten, scoobie, sapper, ^cpw, LoisLane, summer, pumpkin,
faith, miss-santa, Myth, naughty-but-nice, Emu, bigears, thecrow,
Skydiver, Rocket40, kid, tickle-me-elmo, leah, Bindy, _Davo_, tamm,
fluff, wickedAJ, steveo, Gibson, winnie, Sami, Zar, ^tash^, NESS^,
carrie, turbo, Haley, Seahorsey, mango, cheeky-foxy, Gus, jazz, Bronnie,
Cha_cha_girl, peck, Cougar, Rusky, kellee1, sexy-babe, jdcoke and
Im sure I have missed some.
After hours at the Brecknock, we were all kicked out onto the street,
where some went to the Grand at Glenelg and continued to party, some
went to the Waves, some the Casino, some to The Fox n' Hounds in Stamford
Plaza, and some went for coffee in Rundle Street. I arrived back at
the hotel at 5am with pumpkin, jazz and miss-santa in tow. After waiting
for a half hour for fluff and steveo I eventually got to bed at 530am.
Waking up at 730am I had a shower and left jazz, steveo and fluff
asleep in our room and made the journey to McDonalds for breakfast,
where I found tamm and Rusky basking in the hot morning sun. Gee,
they looked a picture!
After breakfast I made my way back to the Brecknock, where everyone
had started to wake up and get ready for their journey back to Melbourne.
I could tell there were some sore heads. Especially the landlady,
who was awoken at 4am by ^CpW running down the halls screaming out
for someone. In hindsight, I doubt we will ever be let back into the
Brecknock again.
