Concealed within a worthless frame
Years have allowed the spread
of never ceasing shame..
Words hurled..inflicting insult
Self worth gone..along with pride
Selfishly stolen away..never to return
Only doubts remain..the need to hide...
Swallowed up..smothered
Well concealed to every watchful eye
The facade of contentment
To any and all that passed by...
But you saw deep within my soul
Past the darkness that shadows my heart
You reached out your hand to me
Promising me a new life, a new start...
I could not reach your hand
That you extended for my grasp
Try as I may..I could not escape
These chains are too strong, you heard me gasp...
Just take my hand, you yelled down to me
The chains will no longer imprison you
But if you will only listen to me
Take my hand and I will pull you through...
I grabbed his hand..and I held tight
Knowing in letting go I may never escape
His words drew me into the light
Then I noticed his heavenly shape...
I will be with you always
Never in the dark shall you dwell
You always had the power within
To break free of your self inflicted Hell...
You were made to feel insignificant
Each word attacking your soul
To save yourself from further attacks
You created your own ebony hole...
No more darkness will you allow
Unless at nigh you lay down to rest
Only light shall guide you on your journey
And you will know that you are truly blessed...
Walk amidst the troubles of this world
But do not let them attach themselves to you again
I have given you an angel to lead you
And he will protect you against all other men...
Take his hand into yours and hold it tightly
He will never lessen the grip
Hold onto to him as he holds on to you
And I can guarantee you will never slip...
