The wonderment in a child's eyes, The anticipation of Christmas drawing near. Dreams of toys and stockings filled, Santa Clause will surely come this year. That was not to be the case at our home, This year was different from the rest. Our only hope for any gifts, Were a few from relatives, at best. Santa would not make an appearance this time, He had no choice but to pass us by. There was nothing in that big sack for mine, And I didn't have the heart to tell them why. Word of my dilemma soon traveled around, Through many friends of whom I did not know. They were told I was a mother of two, Whose husband had decided to go... The news reached the ear of a Santa Clause, Who was saddened to hear of my fate. He immediately asked the girls to write him, To let him know their wishes before it was too late. When I was at my lowest point, I received my Christmas blessing, out of the blue. My eyes could not believe what I held in my hands, An angel had come to my rescue... A miracle came to me that morning, When all hope had diminished away.. I now had the means to be Santa myself, Because of an Angel that was sent my way... I always had faith in my life, No matter how bad things seemed to be.. But Christmas time was different somehow, A time for miracles, yet I felt there were none for me I will never be able to thank my Angel enough, Coming to me in my desperate hour. What came in that envelope of love, Was also an answer to my prayer... To my Angel... You will remain in my heart forever... God Bless each and everyone of you this year at Christmas... Where miracles truly do happen, when you think all is lost.. Debbie Dodson December 17, 2000 |
