Ocean vast in size, never ending, Breezes to caress a troubled brow. Waves gently washing ashore, This is where I am escaping to now. I am sitting in a secluded spot, Far from the ones laughing in glee. My space has to be mine alone, I need nothing more than tranquilty. In my mind's eye, I am amidst grasses, Cool breezes lift my hair. My fingers carelessly sifting the sands, I can see the seagulls flying everywhere. I close my eyes, and throw my head back, Breathe deeply the saltwater in the air. I allow my mind to drift aimlessly, Here, or in my mind's eye, I haven't a care. The events over these past few months, Were my ticket to the ocean deep. It is here, once more, I come to escape, Finding my peace, undisturbed sleep. Oh, so easily, I let go of all the pain, And let my spirit and soul soar. Only the ocean can thoroughly cleanse them, Till they can return to me once more.. One day I will go back to the ocean, And all my cares will wash away. But for now, my mind has escaped, Allowing me the peace I seek, at least for today... Debbie Dodson December 16, 2000 |
