I do not need to close my eyes,
I do not need to compromise.
I have no need for visions unforseen,
I need something less routine.

Sweet dreams are all that remain,
The thoughts that allow me to stay sane.
Drifting aimlessly in realms of the unknown,
Relentless pursuit for illusions of my own.

Fluffy clouds, unicorns and such,
These do not appeal to me that much.
In my mind's eye, a vision will appear,
A lone lady, with wings, draws near.

She wafts before me, almost eerie in sight,
Beckons to me to follow her into the night.
She reaches out her hand to mine,
My journey begins when our hands intertwine.

Deeper into the dark we ascend,
I am not sure if I will comprehend.
All the sights that I will behold,
I suddenly chill, as my dream unfolds.

Faces from the past, appear before my eyes,
One by one, I look on in surprise.
Loved ones that I cherished for years,
I now see them through my tears.

The lady turns to me and explains,
That the past is behind you, only the future remains.
She urges me forward, where now there is light,
But I cannot see the future, it is way too bright.

She explains, do not look with your eyes
Look with your heart, she cries.
Open your heart to the love waiting for you,
Leave the past where it belongs, bid it adieu.

Your future is illuminated with promises to come,
Never look back to where you came from.
Close your eyes, and let the light draw you in,
Your future awaits you, let your new life begin.

I wake to find only darkness about me,
My eyes try to focus, but still cannot see.
The vision, the dream, felt so real,
But what is this lady trying to reveal?

She is adamant that I look ahead,
Toward the future, and not back instead.
With my eyes wide open, I am blinded by the sight,
To seek my destiny, I must wait for the night....
