29 March- 2 April 2006
The second annual Suwannee River Woodcarvers Roundup in Florida was held Wednesday, March 29 through Sunday, April 2 2006.
Carving classes were held on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Roundup was held at the Manatee Springs State Park, 11650 N.W. 115th St., Chiefland, FL 32626. This is west of Ocala. For a map click

Below are pictures of the area where we set up for the carving classes:
Note the Manatee in the spring above and the deer in the woods. Below is our typical setup for classes.
We will be having several evening activities including a musical evening and a Trade Blanket evening depicted below
The State Park has 95 campsites for RVer's and tenter's; and motels are available in the Chiefland area.
Carving clubs were invited to display their work. Carvings by club members may be entered for competitive awards. There will be a total of 4 awards given - first, second and third best of show awards for specific carvings and an award for best club display. The carvings for competitive awards can only be entered as part of the club display; individual attendees whose club does not have a display may not enter carvings. Instructors will judge those carving designated by the clubs on Friday, March 31. Carvings that have won previous best of show awards here are not eligible (of course none have as it's our first time so this year any carving is eligible.) Carving clubs will be asked to provide and designate small carvings for door prizes at their display. People attending the roundup will draw a number when entering and then search for the matching number attached to a designated door prize carving. We ask that carving clubs bring their own 10x10 craft tent or pop-up and displays. There is no cost for a club to set up a display and participate in this way. Carving clubs interested should email Lucille at ajeca@aol.com by March 1, 2006.
