1) One paragraph summary of the key idea summarizing<BR>
the topic of the week. <BR>
This week, we basically talked about Reason. Reason<BR>
is defined as the power to think in such a way that we<BR>
proceed from what we know to what we do not yet know. <BR>
Reason is also the last and most important kind of<BR>
knowledge. The other two being experience and<BR>
Authority. A couple of other key topics that we<BR>
covered this week were: The Five Common Thinking<BR>
Errors. These five errors are 1) Non sequitur meaning<BR>
&quot;it does not follow&quot;. One Example from the text is -<BR>
All men are mortal Socrates was a man so therefore all<BR>
men are Socrates. It doesn't follow logically. <BR>
2)False/Vague premises are things that cannot or may<BR>
not be true. 3) Ad Hominem which literally means<BR>
against the person, can be show when someone attacks<BR>
another with words. 4) Begging the Question means<BR>
that someone tries to demonstrate a point by already<BR>
assuming something is true and an example of this<BR>
would be &quot;I believe God exists because he created us.&quot;<BR>
5) Red Herrings are basically something that comes<BR>
up that is completely off topic and is used to change<BR>
the subject. <BR>
