Journal-Section 2

In this section, we started to look at the human condition.  At first, I had no idea what the “human condition,” was, and I thought that it was just another theological teaching.  However, I realized that the human condition is something that every person, whether they are religious or not, faces.  We learned about the condition from a variety of sources, including videos, songs, and packets.

The main things that I want to take out of this section are: the knowledge I gained from the right speech experiment, which basically showed me that I lie to benefit myself, the idea of “choosing a map for life,” which was outlined in the packet by M. Scott Peck, and the idea that “evil,” doesn’t exist, rather there is only good, and evil is where there is a lack of good.

One question that I want to be able to answer by the end of this year is: Is there any real way to improve our “condition,” as humans?
