Chapter 5: A Silver Lining

Ranma ½ and was created for the author's personal enjoyment.

[Note!  This is an alter-verse fic!  You have been warned!]

Ryouga was feeling about as low as he could.  He didn't even have the energy to pull off 
a Shi Shi Hokoudan.  Akane had left him and Ranma... well, his 'enemy' had finally won. 
He had taken everything Ryouga had; the bread, his human form and now, his one true 
love.

He sighed.

Now, to top it all off, he was hopelessly lost in the woods.  It seemed that his horrible 
sense of direction had come back to haunt him once more.  The saying 'when it rains, it 
pours' seemed very much to describe Ryouga's life at this moment.

He could have been angry beyond words at Ranma.  Should have been, in fact.  But, 
the fact that Akane seemed happier than ever when she was with him deterred his 
anger.  Maybe, maybe, *maybe*, Ranma did love her.  And it was all too obvious that 
she loved him as well.  They had loved each other from the start, that was for sure.

Ryouga sighed once more.  Then he heard a rustling of leaves behind him.  He turned 
quickly and stopped when he saw who it was.

"Akari,"  he said, and smiled.

But, then again, 'every cloud has a silver lining'.

(6 moths later)

Akane sighed and rubbed her temples.  "Okay what do you think of 'Kaori' for a girl?"

"Hmmmmmmmm... that's fine, Akane.  Now, what if it's a boy?"  Ranma asked.

"Well, I thought about 'Ikiru'.  What do you think?"  Akane looked up at her husband, who 
was leaning against her chair, looking over her shoulder.

He kissed her lips gently.  "Sounds good to me."

She smiled.  It had been five months ago when she and Ranma had finally had a 
wedding that had went according to plan.  And now, here they were, five months later, 
expecting their first child.  Amazingly, they had gotten pregnant the first try.

Not that she or Ranma were upset by the news; rather glad for it.  They had both 
wanted children and now that they were going to have one...

Well, it was more than one could hope for.

Everyone had been so excited when they had told their families all about the good 
news.  Soun had cried over the news that he was going to be a grandfather (whether he 
took that as good news or not, no one is sure of) while Kasumi and Nodoka had hugged 
and congratulated her, and Genma proceeded to slap Ranma on the back for his 
efforts.  Then, Genma had to literally *drag* Soun off to the local bar so that they could 
celebrate... like every other night.

Nabiki hadn't joined in with the others in congratulating the couple, but had done so 
after.

"Well, sis, I, personally, didn't think Ranma had it in him,"  Nabiki said, amused at the 
shade of red that Ranma had turned by her comment.  "But I'm glad you two are 
together again.  I always knew that you two were supposed to be together."

Akane smiled at the memory.  Things were going good.  Maybe that saying *was* true.  
"Every cloud has it's silver lining,"  Akane whispered.

"What was that?"  Ranma asked.

Akane shook her head.  "I love you, Ranma."


Author's Notes

Okay, after getting a few reviews on how the 4th chapter was kind of a let down (sorry 
HashBrown), and going back and looking at it myself, I realized that I needed to put in a 
real conclusion to what happened to the characters.  So here it is.  I hope you liked the 
series... ^_^;;
