Ranma ½ Definite Misunderstandings Prologue by Kris Thompson This is a work of fiction based on Rumiko Takahashi's 'Ranma Nibun no Ichi' a.k.a. Ranma ½ and was created for the author's personal enjoyment. *** In the summer of 1983, Nodoka and Genma Saotome had their son, Ranma, in Chiba. Later that same year, Takoto and Soun Tendo had their youngest daughter, Akane, in Nara. Genma and Soun, both being the best of friends, contacted one another about the births. The agreed to have Ranma marry one of the Tendo daughters, and Soun and Genma agreed that it should be little Akane, seeing how she and Ranma were so close in age. And so it was then that Akane and Ranma were first engaged, Ranma, only five months old, and Akane, still a newborn. For eighteen years, Ranma lived in Chiba with his parents, going to school, learning the arts, constantly chased by girls until he finally settled on Ukyou, his long time friend, and went out from the time they were freshmen in high school until the present, never knowing that he was engaged. And for eighteen years, Akane lived in Nara with Soun and her sisters, training in the arts, going to school, beating up on the local boys who annoyed her, recently dating the local wanderer, Ryouga, also not knowing nothing about the engagement. Both Ranma and Akane applied to the Tokyo University and they were both accepted, along with Ukyou and Ryouga, all of the children's families moving to the Nermia district of Tokyo. No one knew that the first time Ranma and Akane saw one another, that everything would be different. Misunderstandings would be made, friendships sacrificed, friendships made, love lost, love gained, hatred born, apologies wished, and complete chaos would reign over their lives. But that's what happens when you fall in love. *** Author's Notes: Sorry that was insanely short, but hopefully, that will give you a kinda picture of what's going on. I'm really trying to work on this series and my 'Young Times' Series at the same time, along with college classes. Signin' off! -Krissy cartoonpaperclips@email.com www.geocities.com/kuroi_hoshi
