A THOUGHT FOR OTHERS.
Some people live wrapped up in a cocoon of unreality,
A world free from pain and want, free from homelessness.
They see only furs and baubles, shopping and shows.
A thought for the cold and hungry they do not possess.
A purse full of money, a stomach much too full
From dining every day at some expensive hotel.
Rings on every finger and a great big limousine,
A thousand-dollar Christmas gift goes down well
Can they not see the homeless on the cold street?
Do they not see the people who struggle to get by?
Or are they just selfish and really do not care
What happens to their fellow men that may die?
Just for the sake of some change that they could toss
Into a tattered old hat, held in a half-frozen hand.
This is a wonderful place to live, freedom for all,
Yet there is a gap tween rich and poor in this great land.
I wish I were rich enough to help all the homeless
In this wonderful, plentiful land that we all share,
Everyday I'd find a way to feed and warm and care,
Till one day I'd find not one cold beggar anywhere.
