FREE FROM DESPAIR
There are many things that brighten up my day.
It is usually something simple, (nothing big in anyway),
Keeps me free from despair and keeps hope alive.
Keeps me happy all day long, no matter what others say.
It could be a sunbeam peeking through real bright,
After an extra long cold and stormy night.
It could be a smile on a young child's face
When a mother has given a sweet word of praise.
It may be a letter or parcel long awaited for
Sitting there for you on the post office floor.
Or the warm sun on your back as you walk
Along a path when there's no need to talk.
We are given too many gifts to feel despair,
For we have a loving God that shows his care
In so many ways that we would thoughtless be,
If we give way to despair's cruel clutching tyranny.
