I'll warn you, you won't find many dark, torturous, or
angst-ridden fics here.  I tend towards romance and
I like reasonably happy endings.  While I do read fics which
have serious moments, if you are looking for Dark fic
recommendations, you might want to skip mine.  I will
assure you that all the fics I have recommended are extremely
well written.  They are some of the best of the genre.
General warning:  I read adult fics.  Almost everything I
recommend will be rated R or NC-17.  For your own
peace of mind, read each story's warnings before
you jump into it.

Pumblechook by Wartcap
Only someone as talented as Warty could not only get
me interested in a fic about a Dementor, but also make me
laugh out loud about it.  A truly fabulous fic.  WIP

I Have a Secret by Lady of the Masque
Sweet, honest, and interesting romance.  One of my favorites.
And did I mention lemons? ;)

True Colors by Elephas
A post-HBP Severus recuperating in hospital
fic.  Lightly rated, bittersweet tale with
big hope at the end.  Complete in 4 chapters.

Like the Muggles Do by Friagcg
"The Order of the Phoenix was bored. Happy and relieved,
but bored. So Albus began the Order Games.
It is now time for their most challenging
game to date: Live Like Muggles. "
WIP  I love this fic!  Do yourself a favor and give it a read.
Maybe a few more reviews will get Friagcg busy
working on it again.  Lightly rated.

fic about a jarvey!  This fic is clever and hysterically written.
Don't miss it!  She's also in the midst of writing a sequel!

New Recommendations 2/06:

A Secret Fantasy by I Shan't Say
This is a rather naughty PWP one-shot by the mysterious
I Shan't Say.  Warning, odd kink may squick some, but I
found the story very interesting and hot as well.  Good
illustration of how couples speak to each other about hidden
desires and how couples worry about such things.

Teacher's Pet by Didodikali
Worth reading not only for the charming story but also for the
fabulous illustrations.

Big Name Death Eater - The Last Virgin of Hogwarts by Shiv
The first in the BND series, I believe.  I love everything I've read
of Shiv's, but I'm especially fond of this installment of
the BND fics.  It's amusing as hell and offers a more honest version of
how folks get on together than most fics.  Honest first times
together, in all their bumbling glory!  Not to mention that it
has Virgin!Snape in it, a premise that is so rarely done well.

Reconcilable Differences by cocoachristy
A wonderful take on the Yenta Livery Company Challenge.
Both amusing and intriguing, CocoaChristy really
has a nice touch with this.

MISSION I: Get Hermione Laid by Fervesco
If you haven't already read the delightful Mission series, you
are really missing out.  Interesting PWP pairing Hermione
with a small bevy of older men.  Oh, to be in her shoes!

A Matter of Honor by Amy McWilliams
This is the very first fanfic I ever read. I was lucky! It was so brilliant
it led me to read more, and eventually try my own hand at writing. Well written,
good story line, and very believable. Plus it has a few gracefully written
naughty bits as well. Romance and a fight with Voldy to top it all off.

Invictus by Doomspark
Don’t let the warnings scare you away, there is not one thing in
this somewhat dark fic that is gratuitous to the plot. Doom
is an amazing storyteller and this fic shows him at his best.

Catspaws by Doomspark WIP
A delightful tale!  What kind of mischief will ensue
when Hogwarts' familiars decide to take matters into their
own hands...er...paws?  Doomspark is a master at combining
humor, romance, and drama.  Don't miss this one!

Bewitching her Mind by NotSoSaintly
One of the best written PWP’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of
reading. NSS is an artist when it comes to lemons.

Article Seven, Paragraph Two by Jade_Orchid
Another one of the best PWP’s I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
Severus, Hermione, and a reluctant Lucius in a threesome. Delightful.

Heart With No Companion by Michmak
Simply one of the most wistfully beautiful stories in fandom.
Well written, interesting format. Michmak is a pro.

Finding His Voice by Michmak WIP
"A companion piece to "She Never Stops Talking", a one-shot PWP
I wrote that refuses to let me go. After the war, Snape retreats to
his dungeons and is prepared to live his life friendless and alone.
Will Hermione let him?"  Don't wait, go read this now!

An Army of Snapes by LadyoftheMasque
"Hermione suffers a chocolate-frog accident, Severus
suffers the hiccups, and Snape (& Snape & Snape &

A wonderful mixture of humor and sex.

Frogs in Winter 01 by LadyoftheMasque
"Draco learns over drinks one night that Severus wants
Hermione Granger in his bed, and drunkenly decides to
acquire her for his godfather. Add in a mishap with
Veritaserum, and more than the usual mayhem ensues!"
Absolutely delightful and humorous PWP.  LotM is simply amazing.
Don't miss this one!

The Succubus by Southern_Witch_69
"Severus Snape starts having nightly visits from a succubus.
Soon after, an incubus starts visiting Hermione.
They will have to come together to beat their nightly visitors."
Wonderful tale.  Unique subject, well thought out plot, and
delightfully detailed.  Humorous, mysterious, and steamy!

Dances With Witches by Pearle
Severus Snape loses a magical bet. The consequences? The Tango!
Steamy, clever, humorous, and did I mention steamy?
A must read!

Mister Mom by Zambonigirl
"Snape is solely responsible for his three children for an
entire weekend when Hermione leaves for a Charms Convention."
Charming and delightful story.

Walking Into Bars by Michmak and Zambonigirl WIP
"In answer to the "Hermione Walks Into A Bar" challenge.
A combined effort between Michmak and Zambonigirl"
This tale is a pure joy to read.  Mysterious and hysterical.

What is Right by DADA Mistress  WIP
"Hermione and Snape discover they both have an obsession for riddles,
however, as time progresses, they discover they have a
 passion for more than just common word play."
Half the fun of this lovely fic is trying to
guess the riddles yourself!

Heart Over Mind by Reagann WIP
I love this fic. I can’t begin to try to describe it, just go read it.
Go now! I once despaired of it ever being finished, but
Reagann finally got back to it and it was worth the wait.

Objects of Desire by Azrael
"The dream team sign a magical contract promising to lose their
virginities within the year, they soon fix on the objects of their
desires, but will the bitterness left in the wake
of the war prove too hurtful for love to exist?"
There are definitely serious elements in this excellent
fic, as well as a non-con warning, but it's a
wonderful fic and shouldn't be missed.

Teacher, Teacher by Moaning Myrtle
When Severus has to go into hiding, Hermione will have to teach
him how to live like a Muggle.  However, Severus will teach Hermione how
to heat things up in the kitchen.  One of my all-time
favorite stories.

Wandless Magic by Deeble
"Voldemort is dead. Severus Snape is not. But he discovers there's just
as much need for espionage now -- and he's in no position to do it."
A wonderful tale of intrigue and romance.

The Fire and the Rose by Abby and Anne
“After a Potions accident, Snape and Hermione find that they
have traded bodies and must keep up appearances.”  Very amusing,
intriguing, and lemony fic. Best “body-switching” fic I’ve read.

Roman Holiday (trilogy) by Anna
Well written and engaging. A nice Snarky Snape that doesn’t make
it easy on young Hermione. Good mix of humor, drama, angst, and action.

The Sound of the Sun Rising by Dryade
This is the only Vampire!Snape I have ever enjoyed reading.  I've
always said that a clever writer can make me believe any scenario,
Dryade certainly makes me believe this!  Well written,
interesting take on the idea.

Libidinis Furoris Potionis by Corazon
Another interesting take on a common plot device.  This time,
it's a version of "We have to have sex, right now!"
Severus has been given a lust potion and must
sleep with Hermione or go mad and die.  I know, I know,
it's been done a million times!  But trust me, this is the most
honest, sweet, and enchanting fic of this genre that I've
ever had the pleasure of reading.

On Turning Thirty..The Diary of Hermione Granger, Spinster
and it's companion piece:
The Chronicle of Severus Snape by Titania
WIPs, and the updates are slow, but they are SO worth the wait!
This fic is big fun, along the lines of Bridget Jones' Diary, and
It's a complete hoot to get to read Severus' side of things as well.
