| Timecop (1994) Cast:Jean-Claude Van Damme,Ron Silver,Mia Sara Van Damme stars as a "Timecop" who prevents people from going back in time however he must work extra hard because a senator (Silver) is trying to use time travel to make money so he can get elected as the president while Van Damme becomes tempted to change history for himself in this well made but strangely unsatisfying sci-fi thriller. The plot is ripped off from The Terminator, the acting isn't very good and a lot of it just doesn't flow that well together but Timecop remains mildly entertaining for the right audience who either love a good chuckle (Laughing at the absurd plot threads and cheesy acting) or those who are in it for the actionscenes and although a few of the actionscenes are impressive, the ending alone will make Van Damme fans happy but I for one perfer my time travel plot with a little more imagination and although one doesn't expect much from Jean0-Claude Van Damme, one certainly expected that Hyams would invest far more energy in the time travel angle. Which come off as unnecessary in this movie. So even though Timecop has it's moments and some exciting action sequences, the bottomline is that Timecop as a whole is really nothing to write home about..D.Peter Hyams **1/2 |
