Thomas Howell plays a tough guy cop who join forces with a vigilante squad when he is kicked off the force however he finds out that the vigilante squad maybe behind the death of his family in this action packed and overall fine straight to video actioner. Howell has always been underrated, and here his acting is good and he more then cuts a decent action figure much better then other contenders like Lorenzo Lamas etc. It isnt' ever about plot with movies like this, instead it's about how much action and if it keeps the audience from being bored, The Sweeper is a success pulling off a job so effortlessly that it puts a lot of hollywood stuff to shame (Like xXx for instance.)
