The Substitute:Failure Is Not An Option (2000)

Cast:Treat Williams,Angie Everhart,Patrick Kilpatrick

Treat Williams returns again as Karl Thomasson who this time subs for a group of military cadets who turn out to be a group of white supremacy terrorists in this well made actioner which should satisfy fans of the genre looking for a fun, dumb actioner.

The Substitute series is an interesting one, mainly on how the producers find a way to take a premise and add only a few creative touches to it. With this sequel we have some well staged actionscenes and a mean spirited script which gives The  Substitute 4 a jolt every now and then,  it's not subtle and Williams isn't all that convincing as an action hero but action fans can find a lot worse ways to spend their rental money on. Plus the script has a few good one liners and for the most part remains enjoyable through out until the formulatic climax which is not only anti-climatic but totally unsatisfying as it would've been more fun to see a hand to hand confrontation, that minor complaint aside, The Substitute 4 certainly delivers the goods fans come to expect..
