| Sleeping Dogs (1997) Cast:C.Thomas Howell,Scott McNeil,Heather Hanson Howell stars as a gay cyborg thief (!) named Sanchez Boon (Yeah, Howell looks real hispanic!) who takes over a spaceship and threatens to crash into a planet, or something like that, the movie makes such little sense that I could barely understand what was going on, but that wasn't a bad thing, Sleeping Dogs is without a doubt Howell's lowest point in his career, and for a guy who's resume includes such losers as Far Out Man, Teresa's Tattoo and Soul Man that's saying a lot. Sleeping Dogs is so laughably ridiculous it's not even funny. The FX are dime-store quality, the action is dull and unimaginative and the acting is even worse. . Howell couldn't be any hammier and he delivers an astonishingly bad performance, but as bad as his acting is, the cast are even worse. To make matters even worse the video tape is yellow(!) furthermore assuring that Sleeping Dogs is indeed a dog. D.Michael Bafaro1/2* |
