Quicksand (2003)

Cast:Michael Dudikoff,Dan Hedaya,Brooke Thesis,Richard Kind

Dudikoff stars as a shrink who probes the death of the general aboard the base, who's daughter may be the killer in this entertaining yet disappointing for those who expected
American Ninja like goofiness. However Quicksand is a generally involving and decent movie.

Quicksand
is Dudikoff's latest offering, and with all things considered it's not as bad as it could have been, it sure rises above the quality of low budget junkers like Gale Force and Ablaze, that said Quicksand still suffers from cliches and the major flaw of not having enough action (Although Firstenberg stages a suspenseful car chase as well as a satisfying climax), however this is not what you would expect from  Sam Firstenberg who made Dudikoff a star with the superior American Ninja and Avenging Force. Still for a Dudikoff movie it could've been worse and Dudikoff is surprisingly appealing here. Also the soundtrack is laughably overblown however despite this, Quicksand manages to provide entertainment in it's story. It's a lot like Cover-Up and likewise the story is quite engaging.  Although fans of Dudikoff maybe disappointed by the lack of action sequences, Quicksand does provide Dudikoff fans with a change of pace role, which works more often then not. Who would have thought Dudikoff would make an effective change of pace role ?  Quicksand while very watchable, just doesn't have as high a rewatchability factor as Firstenberg and Dudikoff's other efforts. Of course if Steve James was still alive, he would've been a welcome addition.D.Sam Firstenberg***
