Project Shadowchaser (1992) Cast:Martin Kove, Meg Foster, Frank Zagarino,Joss Ackland A robot leads terrorists to hold the President's daughter hostage, Kove stars as the ex-football star sent in to thwart them in this silly actioner which features Kove and Foster at their most embarrassed. Martin Kove is best remembered as the bad guy instructor in The Karate Kid series, not to mention his role in Rambo:First Blood Part 2 and Death Race 2000 but when he made his first headlining actioner Steele Justice, nobody really bought him as an actionstar. I myself thought the movie was very enjoyable and recommend it as the type of movie they just don't make anymore. However Kove failed to get a career of actioners going and with crap like this it's not hard to see why. For starters the role of the robot, looks tailor made for Dolph Lundgren, Lundgren of course was much too high priced to get him to star in this muck, so they hired lookalike Zaginrino and as a robot he's the only who seems to be inspired casting, in other words the only tolerable one in the cast. Martin Kove acts thoroughly annoyed, as if someone was dangling a paycheck in front of him and Foster is hardly the luscious beautiful woman the part indicates, Foster is a good actress but let's face it, she's not exactly hot and therefore is a movie that lacks any elements needed to be even close to being fun. The special effects are on par for such a low budget production, but overall this is pretty dull going, unless your a huge Martin Kove fan, otherwise it's not worth the effort. Movies like this only work if they have the energy and flair to show us that people actually took the production seriously enough to make something watchable, they don't work when we can tell that everyone in the film is either annoyed or embarrassed by their unspeakably awful surroundings.
