The Operative (2000)

Cast:Brian Bosworth,John Tench,Rachel Hayward

Brian Bosworth stars as an ex-CIA agent who is broken out of a Russian prison by a Russian mobster (Former KGB rival Tench) to steal a painting which has the resources for making cheap energy, however things don't go well and hostages are taken and the CIA also want the painting and now Bosworth has to fight everyone off in this undistinguished actioner.

Robert Lee certainly furnishes enough creative camera techniques and stunts to make this passable for fans of the genre, but everything else just fails to make much of a connection beyond the stock threat the assembly line villains put out, Bosworth is okay in the role (But awful in his other role) but seriously this isn't a lot of fun, it's treated to seriously and along the way it's nothing that you haven't seen before, and much better. Plus aside from a few good ideas the overall story makes no sense at all. A painting that can create energy because it's lists the elements drawn on? Gimme a break.  Robert Lee seems to get more out of Michael Dudikoff than Brian Bosworth as
The Silencer and Virtual Assassin would indicate..  D.Robert Lee **
