Moving Target (1996) Cast:Michael Dudikoff,Billy Dee Williams,Michael Bernardo Dudikoff stars as a bounty hunter set up for slaughter by mobsters if he doesn't find the killer of a mob kingpin who everybody thinks he did. The standard action movie brings nothing new to the genre but Dudikoff fans will be happy by the gunplay that is nicely filmed. Apparently a remake of The Hunter with Steve McQueen, Dudikoff doesn't have the charisma or acting ability to even be compared next to McQueen, which is akin to comparing a pea-shooter to a tank, however Dudikoff has the ability to kick ass, and that's what he does here, and that's what most genre buffs will mostly enjoy although the movie is hampered by the over complicated plot that gets in the way of the action as well as some laughable "tender" scenes between Dudikoff and his pregnant wife. Who constantly yells at him for putting his life in danger and constantly asking him not to fight anymore, which is like asking a wolf not to attack the livestock. In anycase what we end up with is your typical "clear your name and not get killed in the process" formula action flick. So even though this extremely routine actioner has more cliches and stereotypes then your average soap opera, Moving Target still moves swiftly and is mildly entertaining for the seasoned genre fan..D.Damien Lee ** |
