Missing In Action (1984)

Cast:Chuck Norris,M. Emmet Walsh,James Hong

Norris goes back to vietnam to rescue P.O.Ws  and uncovers a cover-up in this mediocre entry in the genre.
Notable for the fact that it  did change Norris' appeal but the movie is best left forgotten especially that it's dated jingoism is somewhat laughable today.

Despite the cult following for this particular actioner
Missing In Action is  strictly by the numbers with nothing that hasn't been done before, indeed it did beat Rambo:First Blood Part II to the punch but the fact remains that this is clearly the inferior of the two, mainly because Stallone is much more credible then Norris. The actionscenes themselves are done with some style and the movie isn't too dull but it's not very good. Surprisingly this mediocre bodycount actioner spawned two sequels both of them inferior to this entry, this entry at least has a little style to at least make it a passable flick. Fans of the genre may enjoy it if they can get past it's dated jingoism.D.Joseph Zito **
