Into The Sun (2004)

Cast:Steven Seagal, Matthew Davis, Ken Lo,Takao Osawa, Eddie George

Steven Seagal stars as an FBI agent who goes into Japan to probe the assassination of a public offical while there he finds the new Yakuza is running everything and without honor, so Seagal single handedly wipes them out in this cross between Out For Justice and Showdown In Little Tokyo.

To be fair, I must admit I enjoyed this Steven Seagal actioner, the story is surprisingly well written and it's the first Seagal flick I've seen where the story actually kept me entertained without waiting impatiently for an actionscene. Still the story is flawed as it steals too many angles from the Dolph Lundgren dud Showdown In Little Tokyo, right down to the finger slicing before the yakuza boss kills the unfortunate schmuck. Still it has enough moments especially the climax when Seagal actually gets back to business and starts kicking ass. The bloody climax gets down to the basics and Seagal becomes fun to watch. He's also lost weight also so he looks better than usual and for a change he actually tries to act and he actually is tolerable, it also helps that everyone in the cast can act making this actioner more interesting than usual for a straight to video Seagal actioner.
