| Enemy Action (1999) Cast:C. Thomas Howell,Randolph Mantooth,Ed O'Ross,Lisa Thornhill,Richard Lynch C. Thomas Howell stars as Captain John Reed a soldier who is sent to recover a chemical bomb that has fallen into Russian terrorist's hands in this admittedly flawed yet exciting actioner which makes the most of a low budget and often rises above most Roger Corman movies. Enemy Action is pretty much a standard actioner in the sense that it doesn't offer many surprises or anything original and yet it works as a professional actionflick which is also helped by a good performance from Mantooth and O'Ross. Howell starts out pretty obnoxious but then becomes tolerable as the hero of the peace. Enemy Action is well made and overall an above average actioner bogged down by a witless plot and brain-dead script which often takes too much time setting up a bland plot and not enough action. Still it's worth a look for C. Thomas Howell fans as well as action addicts who make it a point to watch shit blow up. Which has more then enough to satisfy. D.Brian Katkin **1/2 |
