| Bulletproof (1988) Cast:Gary Busey, Darlene Fluegel,Henry Silva,L.Q Jones, R.G Armstrong, Juan Fernandez Busey stars as Bulletproof McBain a cop who's been shot 44 times and has lived each time (Right there tells you how bad this thing will be.) When he's asked by the army to rescue his ex-girlfriend from Arab terrorists as well as Russian terrorists, Busey becomes a one man army in this laughable actioner. Wow, what an embarrassment! The irony is not lost on me that the character of this movie is named McBain and even bares resemblance to the Simpsons' character, indeed this movie is so bad it actually is quite brilliant. I mean this is a movie that tries so hard to deliver the goods that when it fails (And boy does it ever!) it becomes hilarious to watch. My favorite part would have to be when Busey is tied to a circular object in which Fluegel saves his neck by using a bomb to blow him (Get your mind out of the gutter!) down the hill, other priceless moments emerge such as the scene where Busey drives what has to be the most comfrontable tank (Not to mention clunky) as well as the fact that Busey constantly says "Butthorn" every two seconds. Movies like Bulletproof are hard to review because, it's obvious that the producers were not taking this seriously, yet despite that fact the movie is so ridiculously terrible you can't like it as a straight ahead actioner.Still the movie emerges as so entertaining it makes you laugh just thinking about it. Although I can't recommend Bulletproof I can't say I'm all that sorry to have seen it, infact I want to add this one in my collection.D.Steve Carver |
