Beastmaster 2:Through The Portal Of Time (1991)

Cast:Marc Singer, Wings Hauser,Sarah Douglas,Kari Wuher,James Avery

The Beastmaster is transported to the present time when his arch-nemesis goes to our world to retrieve an atom bomb which will prevent any sort of rebellion in this terrible sequel which makes no sense and has to much lame jokes and not enough fighting.

The best thing about this movie is well, Kari Wuher is great eye candy other than that this turgid sequel features nothing watchable, the actionscenes themselves are stripped of any excitement due to a sense of not taking it seriously. Not taking a movie seriously is typically a good cause but a sword and sorcery movie must play it deadly serious otherwise it's just ridiculous and yet
Beastmaster 2 is somehow even more ridiculous due to the serious miscasting of Wings Hauser.

Typically the talented Wings Hauser is best for sleazy villains or sleazy good guys, so casting him in a movie which relies more on larger than life evil is a mistake, because Hauser is just not this type of villain. For instance one should never cast Hauser as Darth Vader because likewise his evil comes from a meaner source rather than just being out for himself. Wings Hauser tries really hard but to no avail.  Marc Singer seems merely lost in his role, he hardly ever speaks and he just seems to be standing around waiting to run or swing his sword.  Kari Wuher is admittedly cute but one wanted someone to tape her mouth with duct tape so she wouldn't keep making empty headed comments. The best performance comes from Douglas who is an expert at these type of roles.  However the main problem with
Beastmaster 2 is that it's just boring, this type of material was handled much better in Back To The Future. Seriously how many scenes are we supposed to endure of chase after chase without knowing what the character's motivations are?  Wings Hauser does have an amusing scene where he spits out a spider and says "Cursed witch!" but typically it's very tedious stuff with very lame jokes and cheap production values.
