Absolon (2003)

Cast:Christopher Lambert, Lou Diamond Phillips

Lambert stars as a guy addicted to absolon a powerful chemical which everyone in the future needs at a certain time, however when he ingests the cure, the government is on their way to rub him out. See people actually don't need absolon because our ammune systems have found ways to heal ourselves, but since absolon is like currency, assassins pursue.

Christopher Lambert has now reached the point where he shouldn't do action movies anymore, unfortunately though he can't really seem to find any outside work from the genre, so more and more his movies depend on gunplay, rather than any stunts. To say that Christopher Lambert has without a doubt slowed down would not be an understatement, infact given his appearance he looks more tired than Charles Bronson did in his 70's. That causes a ripple effect because everything else is tired. The story has been done to death, the futuristic society is
not very futuristic and the actionscenes are mediocre. It's a bland movie, with an even blander script. Not once are we convinced that anyone is taking the material as far as it can go, or having any fun with the material. For Christopher Lambert fans this is worth seeing, as the production values are decent and it has a few moments but for anyone else it's too bland to make any real impression. In other words
Absolon fails to make the grade because it's just so unexciting.. D.David Barto **
