Three The Hard Way (1975) Cast:Jim Brown, Fred Williamson, Jim Kelly Three tough black guys duke it out with white supremacists who plan on tainting the water which will kill all the black people in the United States in this ridiculous though amusing enough blaxploitation which gets by mainly on the charisma of the three leads. The action sequences are okay, the story is really ridiculous and the film offers more than it's weight in campiness, but the film is well made and the three leads breeze through the story with a tounge planted in their cheek. The film is far more upbeat than most blaxploitation flicks of this genre, the story does revolve around an unexplained substance that kills only black people, but the plot holes as well as the over the top acting from the bad guys make this the ultimate product of its time. In a way, I recommend this the same way I recommend a Bruce Li film, mainly that if you are curious about the film, you know what to expect and this film is modest on these terms. Still the film has enough ambition and enjoyment factor to be generally far superior to the Chuck Norris films made around this time..D.Gordon Parks*** |
