Bruce Lee:The Invincible (1977) Cast: Bruce Li, Chen Sing,Chen Wai Bruce Li (Not Bruce Lee) stars as a martial artist who goes to Singapore with his master to sort out a lethal martial artist gone bad, seems the villain in question has kidnapped a woman that he intends to marry and he's dead serious about meeting her at the altar, however can Bruce Li and his master spoil the wedding plans especially when the lethal martial arts master is tough to beat and has an army of gorillas at his disposal? Think of this as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers meets Five Fingers Of Death with some King Kong thrown in. With all said and done this hysterically entertaining kung fu flick's description doesn't even do it justice at all. One of the biggest surprises is how Bruce Li is pretty much a supporting character, he pretty much is a sidekick and the girl in question is interested in Li's cousin, and his master is the one who dukes it out with the main villain. However Bruce Li was always one of the more entertaining clones and Bruce Lee:The Invincible is Bruceploitation at its wackiest. The fight sequences are rather well choreographed (though could've been edited down a tad) and the production values are above average for the type of movie it is. Audiences who like this thing will enjoy this and those who don't won't bother renting it in the first place. For me though it's an amusing movie and the Bruce Li vs Gorilla climax is truly as guilty pleasure as it gets. D.Low Kai Suk*** |
