Li's family name was relatives of Clow from a long time ago. Li is a desendent of Clow Reed, thus allowing him to use magic. He came to Japan to capture all the Clow cards. He uses a rashinban to find out where the Clow Cards are and uses his sword to catch them. He appears in the episode "Sakura's Rival" as an exchange student. He of course doesn't think she's a worthy cardcaptor, and tries to do things himself. At the first,Shaolan like the foe, but turned out to become Sakura's friend and help her capture all the cards. He eventually develops to fell in love with Sakura but was too shy to tell her until the end. He has four sister living in Hong Kong. But in Japan,he lives alone. He admires Yukito. It is later discovered that Syaoran is engaged to his cousin, who has no magicial powers. She arrives in Japan looking for him and causes him no end of problems while fighting with Sakura for his attention. Syaoran loves his cousin, though perhaps not in the romantic fashion Meiling desires. He is always looking out for her well being and trying to help her get along with her new classmates. However, he doesn't seem to be romantically affectionate towards her, which may be part of the cause of some of Meiling's insecurities regarding their relationship.
