This cane used canes of bright colors covered in black.
The fill in was done with a violet and the body was white with black.
The basis of the wing I got from a video titled:
"Advanced Millefiori Techniques 1 with Marie Segal"
She used skinner blends and I used bullseye canes of the colors needed.
Here is a front and side view of the wing cane before reducing.
This group of canes was then reduced and then sliced into 4 pieces. 2 of the pieces
need to be reduced a little bit more to be the bottom of the wing.
The sliced canes are then placed together to form wings.
The body is a white cane covered in black. A piece is sliced off for the body which is elongated.
The other piece is reduced to use for the head. I used a black/violet pinroll cane to make the feelers.
It was cut in two pieces and places facing different directions. I then used canes, triangles and slabs of violet to fill in the butterfly design.
Here is the cane reduced down. This was difficult since I used 4 pounds of clay and the
cane was 5" long by 4" wide/tall. I tend to get a little carried away.
Here is a slice from the first reduction
Here is the final reduction.
