*** KOLKOTA ***
    ====================================================================

Calcutta as it used to be known has been through many incarnations.
From an obscure village banks of Hooghly river, it evolved into the capital of
Great Britain's Indian empire. For quitesometime, it has becomethe capital
of west Bengal. In 2001, Calcutta became Kolkata,the bengali pronounciation
of its name. When we arrived, the first impression was, it's so crowded & pollution
is in the air, poverty is a transparent sight, dirty in some places yet it is nevertheless
full of character. It's noisy jumble of bazaars & pavement stalls are something
anybody wouldn't miss. The street where our hotel was a picturesque of a
cosmopolitan atmosphere,smart boutiques & restaurants. We started our visit to the
Victorial Memorial, a spectacular symbol of imperial domination. Obviously,
the grandeur of Imperial capital is slowly decaying. There remains,
the history of the city in Oil painting & watercolors, hanging on the wall.
Time constraint, we skipped the museum.
