Pia Zadora began her theatrical career at the age of five when she was selected to appear with Tallulah Bankhead in Midgie Purvis. Following this, while still a student in the pre-teen classes at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, she appeared again on Broadway in Garden of Sweets with Katina Paxinou and We Take the Town with Robert Preston. She next spent two years playing the role of Bielke in Fiddler on the Roof. When she outgrew the part, she moved to Henry, Sweet Henry. Her regional credits include Promises, Promises, The Sound of Music, Applause and Damn Yankees with Vincent Price.
In 1991, Pia made her L.A. theatre debut as Fanny Brice in
Funny Girl. She returned to Broadway in 1996, closing the circle, to join the cast of Crazy For You.
