Comments : Although no longer with the London Philharmonic, another set of standards. Pia Zadora is backed by the Vincent Falcone Orchestra this time and tries, besides some classic show numbers, some of today’s classics : Joe Cocker’s “You Are So Beautiful” and “All By Myself”, Eric Carmen’s hit. The surprise on this CD has the be “I Wish You Love”, a song by the hand of French chansonnier Charles Trenet : apart from delivering this song with the right touch of heartache, Pia sings one verse in Spanish! This album was never commercially released, and was distributed for promotional use only. It appeared at the same time in the US as “When The Lights Go Out” in Europe and my guess is that they tried to prepare US-audiences, who loved the torchy Pia, for her return to the pop charts. The original working title for this album was "Walking Happy". “Pia – Today!” has also been issued as “Reflections”, again for promotional use only. No singles were released, but there are circulating "short" versions of this album, containing only the first three songs. |
