Pia hits the road with Ol' Blue Eyes ``I'll be rehearsing with Frank, or I should say, Mr. Sinatra,'' giggles Pia Zadora. ``Ten years ago, I was his opening act - when I was 9 1/2 years old!'' A great kidder, Pia, whose new album is Pia Z. But she will headline with Sinatra and Don Rickles for a 10-stop tour starting Sunday in Concord, Calif. The little blonde and Ol' Blue Eyes (both born in Hoboken, N.J.) got together again after she visited him during his shows at Radio City Music Hall. She tells us: -``He said, `Why don't you come on the road with us? It would be nice to have a girl in our package.' I said, `Wrap me up, here I am!' '' Pia Z. isn't concerned she'll be compared with another Sinatra teammate, Liza Minnelli. ``I can't worry about that. I don't do songs she does.'' She's getting a Bob Mackie-Ret Turner gown that ``sparkles like a diamond.'' But daughter Kady, 5, is pouting: ``She says, `I don't like Frank. He doesn't let little girls come on stage and sing with their mommy.' '' Kady, who recorded a song for The Little Mermaid, often appears with Pia, and brings on Kristofer, 3. Actually, Sinatra hasn't ruled yet on whether Kady can indeed go on. Appeared in USA Today; Arlington, Va.; Aug 14, 1990 |
