Based on the Bette Davis classic "All About Eve", this is the story of the witty, glamorous theatre star and the mousy, adoring girl from the sticks who ingratiates herself into the star's private world, and then systematically attempts to take over her carreer, her lover and her life. |
Comments Ofcourse, I never saw the play so it would be very hard for me to give an opinion on its quality. But it's a very important play in Pia Zadora's carreer. She joined this road company in 1972 and toured around with "Promises, Promises" and with this play. When Applause played in Ohio, one member of the public was especially enchanted by the 17 year old Pia. Meshulam Riklis was in Ohio to give a lecture in his Alma Mater about the "Effective non-use of company funds" and decided to take in this show. Pia plays the role of a girl (also named Pia in this version of "Applause" and sings two songs : "Applause" and "She's No Longer A Gipsy" together with co-star Bryan Spencer. The photo on the right shows Pia at that time |
