For those who do not already know her, Phoebe is a toy/miniature Poodle cross from a place in Suffolk (UK) called Laxfield. She was the smallest (or runt/cadpig) of her litter. In her litter there were 4 bitches, Including Phoebe. Phoebe was the only one I held, and I knew straight away that we would be friends forever. Mum wanted one of her sisters, but I had made up my mind. When Phoebe was a puppy, she was a little black velvety ball. Now she has got some silver hairs, from her silver mummy. You can see some in the picture above, but most of them are on her back and her tail has nearly gone completely grey. We first visited Phoebe when she was 5 weeks old, and had to wait three long and arduious weeks before we brought her home on Valentine's Day 1997. When we went to choose one, my grandparents came with us too. When we arrived we were taken to this large hut in the yard, which contained many trophies, rosettes and photos of the Poodles. A man and a woman then came in with two large boxes. One box had two puppies in, a boy and a girl, and the other had the 4 puppies of Phoebe's litter. We were told before hand that all that litter were boys, which is what my mum originally wanted. But on closer inspection by the four of us, they were all bitches! While me and my mum were looking at Phoebe, my grandparents were looking at the two puppies in the other box. My nan wanted one of Phoebe's litter, but my grandad said that he wanted the boy. So they decided to get Buster, who is my half brother. (We have the same father). |
