The day ended with a dramatic sky, allowing colors of all shades to make themselves known. He put his arm around her and pulled her near. This was the house of their dreams. She put her head on his shoulder and sighed,"Have you ever seen such a sky, dear?"She turned and started for the door,"Are you coming?"she asked with a little smile. Taking his hand she led him into the house. The couple was never told the history behind the house, they just told the man they had to have the house."Now Miss are you sure, I tell you I have other houses, better ones! Just please don't make me go in there."And with that the man ran to his car and drove off. The couple decided they wanted they house without a question and they got it.
Built in 1832 by the towns founder Gregory Bradshaw, the house was a complete replica of the family's manner overseas. At first Bradshaw and his new bride were very happy, but soon the couples luck took a turn for the worst. Not to long after Bradshaw became mayor of South Port,Mrs Bradshaw gave birth to a baby boy. The baby seemed strong and healthy. The Bradshaws were very proud of their son and preferred to keep him in the public eye. One night as Mrs.Bradshaw put the baby to bed she noticed her husband was having trouble with the town constable. After kissing her son goodnight she went downstairs to talk to her him."Gregory what's wrong?" his wife asked in a concerned tone."Its Mr.Conners,he seemed to feel we need to arm more of the towns men, do to the Warren Brothers." "Well, you will feel better after you have a good nights sleep, come dear lets go to bed."So hand in hand the Bradshaws went upstairs to bed.
The next morning Bradshaw heard a loud shriek from upstairs. When he reached the second floor he found his wife on her knees holding a limp lifeless figure in her arms. As he got closer Bradshaw could see the lifeless figure was his son. No doctor could figure out what ended the baby's life so sudden. After that the Bradshaw household was not the same, Mrs. Bradshaw never left her room. She spent all her time sobbing for her perished son. That next year Bradshaw was not elected back into office. And to keep his mind at rest Gregory Bradshaw turned to drinking. In the late hours of June 12.1893 Mrs. Bradshaw plunged to her death, landing in the foggy rose garden below the second story window. After laying his wife's body next to his only son,Bradshaw left on a ship and had never been seen since.
In 1932 an old women bought the house for her daughters wedding gift. After moving in, the newly weds began to hear sounds though the house. One night Jane Greeley was alone in her room when suddenly she heard a faint sobbing sound coming from the other room. When she went to see what it was, she noticed a white mist in the corner. As she looked through the dark room the mist floated up above her head, then vanished. Frightened, the women called for her husband. After telling him what she saw, he looked at her then explained that he thought she was over reacting."Come on dear lets go to bed." Taking her by the hand they went to sleep. Early that morning the husband heard a baby crying, the sound was coming from upstairs. When he went to see investigate he found nothing but a dark room. Thinking he was hearing things, he went back downstairs to find his wife cooking breakfast."Now do you think I'm crazy?"Jane asked as she placed the plate infonet of him. Who knows what it was dear, it could have been in my head."With that said he kissed her on the cheek, and left for work.
After cleaning up the breakfast dishes the women went outside to meet her friend the backyard."Good morning Donna dear. How are you today?"She put Tea and cookies on the table."Just fine, your lucky this is a great house."Donna looked up at the second story window? She noticed a women dressed in period clothing looking out at them."Whos that? Don't tell me your mom got you a maid also."Donna asked."Maid? Why would I have a maid?" Jane asked in confusion."There was a women up at the window Jane, I saw her."she told her friend."I have heard sounds Donna ,a women crying the other night. And James heard also a baby crying this morning. He claimed it was only in his mind but since when can others hear whats in your head. I don't know whats going on in the house."
Later that night Jane went upstairs to clean when she noticed how cold it was upstairs in the guest bedroom. Thinking a window might be open she went to close it. When she walked into the dark room she saw that all the windows were closed. But the room looked as though a storm hit it.,blankets were thrown everywhere, boxs were open and turned over allowing the contents to tumble out, she went over to turn on the light by the door when all of a sudden the light turned on by itself. Jane ran from the room and down the stairs. When James came home he found his wife sitting on the stairs shaking," What happened honey?" "Donna saw her this morning. Then I felt cold so I went upstairs to clean and I found the room in shambles then the light turned on." He took her hand and helped her up the stairs.
While he was in the bathroom Jane felt something in the room as she rolled over in bed she saw a women in period clothing looking at her. She was transparent, but could be made out clearly enough to see she was crying. She pointed her hand toward the door then vanished."JAMES!!!"Jane yelled."What dear?"He peeked his head from the bathroom."I want out of this house!I don't care where I go, where we live, I just have to leave this house, I just can't take this."his wife sobed. That night the couple moved out and went to a hotel. They found a little house at the end of town, and have been happy ever since.
Over sixty years later, the house was still on the market but time and time again people would move in, pack up then leave all in the same week. Finally when the O'Brians bought the old house in 1998 it would be taken care of.
After about a month the couple began to hear sounds such as a women crying and loud footsteps. There were cold spots and through out the house all the time, yet the couple didn't feel scared of whatever was in the house. One day Mrs. O'Brain came face to face with the spirit of Mrs. Bradshaw.Like many years before the ghost appeared as though she was crying then pointed toward the door. Wanting to know what this ment Mrs.O'Brain called up a friend who was a paranormal investigator. Upon arriving at the house Mr. Kenly knew the house was haunted by a female spirit. After walking through the house he felt a strong energy in the guest bedroom. When Kenly sat down and tried to talk to spirit, he came in contact with Mrs. Bradshaw, who began telling him her story about her baby and husband. Then told him why she jumped that foggy night. She also informed Mr. Kenly why she didn't want people in her home. She said they would wake the baby and get the house dirty. Through out the night Mr. Kenly kept repeating that both her and the baby had passed away over one hundred years before and that it was time to cross over to the other side."No I want to stay here in my house!"the spirit announced. Just then lights began to turn and off, objects started flying through out the room. Finally when everything died down Mr. Kenly began mumbling something to the spirit, after a few more bursts in protest both Mrs.Bradshaw and her son crossed over to the other side. Leaving the room quit and still.Kenly got up and from his chair and began putting his belongings in his bag."Well Kim your lucky, some spirits are dangerous. Hopefully I helped in someway ," " Thanks John I hope shes happier." With that Mr. Kenly left the old house and went into the rain. From that night on there has been no sightings of Mrs.Bradshaw and her son. Kim O'Brain and her husband hope that the spirit is happier on the other side, but on the other hand they miss their friend from the supernatural world.
