The Rebel's dreams were short-lived however as senior Beth Morris gave notice early that things would not be easy for the South Oldham opponent. Morris fired the first shot less than two minutes into the game. The Owen County goalie had her hands full as SOHS dominated the game right from the beginning.
About 15 minutes in, the first goal of the evening went to team leading scorer sophomore Stephanie Hay after receiving a nice pass from sophomore Tamryn Tuller. The Lady Dragons would score their second goal when senior Shana Bertetto assisted Dana Deptola, a freshman, who netted it for a 2-0 lead. Then Bertetto took charge to put the game away scoring twice with the help of great assists by Morris and freshman Kari Clark to make the score 4-0 at the break.
South Oldham's defense was awesome in the first half and continued to repel the Rebels effectively in the second period to maintain the shutout behind great play from Deptola, freshman Stacie Silvers and sophomore goalie Stephanie Whonsettler. The Lady Dragon offense kept pace as freshman Kristen Young scored South's fifth goal with an assist from sophomore Kirstyn Lowery. Tamryn Tuller earned her second assist when she fed Lowery who slammed it in for the final goal of the match to make the score 6-0.
It was another solid "team" effort from Coach Tucker's 2nd ranked South Oldham team which advances to the District 15 final Wednesday evening at 6:30, also to be played at Clear Creek Park. GO DRAGONS!!
