CARIBBEAN CAT

What are you thinking, little cat -
while sitting so serenely there?
Gazing at the sea beyond -
with your cool, unblinking stare.

Do you see a distant shore -
where those before you used to roam?
Perhaps your “vision” is a ship –
where cats and sailors shared their home.

Or maybe you're just passing time -
watching sea birds in the sand -
and hoping that some passer-by,
will stroke you with a gentle hand.
