Entry Hall

Welcome to our home. Permit me to introduce my wife, Melody, who has just started her new position as Adjunct Instructor of Communication at the Kenan-Flagler Business School of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has just graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Master of Arts in Speech Communication, where she was also a teaching assistant for that department and received the Robert Hawkins Award as Outstanding Graduate Student.

An alumna of Principia College, her interests include theater, acting, teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language) and reading. She taught EFL, especially Business English, for many years in Germany before we returned to the U.S., and that is how she came to be interested in Speech Communication, especially the part of it that deals with organizational communication. Part of her work is in how to prepare and make presentations of all sorts, and her background in teleconferencing has been invaluable in her work with business people in Europe.

Our son, Peter, has just received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Principia College, graduating "with highest honors". He minored in Mass Communication and Political Science and has been either on the Dean's List or the Honor Roll for the past three years. He received a special academic award from the history department, also receiving the Floyd A. McNeil History Award.

He became Editor in Chief of the school newspaper, the Pilot, at the beginning of the 2002-2003 academic year, adding this function to his activity as the Pilot’s film critic, which he began during the 2001-2002 academic year, and serving until his graduation. He received the Special Merit Award for Student Publications for his work there. He also appeared regularly on Principia College's radio station in the Sunday evening program, Rock of Ages, as film critic, and he is currently serving as film critic for the Jersey County Journal and its related group of newspapers.

He is strongly interested in role-playing and video games, and he has also played the role of Judge Hathorne in The Crucible in a production of the Hiss-and-Boo Theater at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Because of Melody's new position, we have recently moved to North Carolina, and this is my website's new address.

We hope you enjoy your visit with us.
