E-Gen:Pearce Introductory Letter 1/27/01 Dear Pearce family Relative: Please forgive the form(al) approach, but I am trying to build a = mailing list quickly and accurately, and this is the best way I could = think of. Later I will be sending the first of many brief, = personally-written articles on the origins of our particular branch of = the Pearce family, which I will refer to as the "Bourne Connection."=20 Just prior to a trip to England my wife Susan and I made in 1996, I = discovered a 4-page document written at the turn of the 20th century by = one of the four grand-daughters (?) of Charles Austen, brother of Susan = Austen Pearce (from whom most of us on the mailing list are descended). = Susan and Richard Pearce married in 1813 in the same ceremony as Charles = and Sarah Pearce Austen. Yes, brother and sister married brother and = sister, and they all came to America in the early 1820s to settle north = of Pittsburgh, PA. I will share their adventures, including commentary = from a professional British historian. After I send each article to you = as an attachment, I will post it on my website = WWW.GEOCITIES.COM/PEARCE2002 under "Family Heritage." Feel free to share = these articles with other members of our family. My hope is 3-fold: 1. The research I've done and information I've gathered will not = be lost; 2. It will be passed on to future generations and serve to = connect lost Pearce "cousins" all across America; and, 3. Others will also share their findings, thus speeding the = accumulation of genealogical treasures. Will you kindly reply to me after you read this? Confirm that you = have received this message and say that you'd like to continue to = receive regular mailings. Send along the electronic addresses of others = in our family if you wish (I'll leave it up to you to print and send = articles via snail mail to those without computers). Feel free to send = new information to me at any time that you would like to have included = in future articles. Or, you may "unsubscribe" at any time, no questions = asked. Thanks, Larry Pearce, Boswell, PA
