wildflower beneath the bridge

on a bridge

untraveled now

in a crevice

near the brow

the wildflower survived

trampled early

underfoot

adapted slowly

in her nook

the wildflower grew

found her footing

shot roots deep

growing downward

painful sleep

the wildflower changed

from the pit

beneath the bridge

she found the sun

above the ridge

the wildflower bloomed

and my heart cried
