Thank You Barb... |
I AM BLESSED INDEED Today upon a bus, I saw a lovely girl, I envied her: She seemed so happy. And I wish I were as fair. And then, suddenly, she rose to leave, and I saw her hobble down the aisle, She had one leg and wore a crutch, But as she passed, a smile. Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two legs, I am blessed indeed. The world is mine! Later, walking down the street, I saw a man with eyes of blue. But he just stood and watched the others play. So, I stopped a moment and then I said, "Why don't you join the others, sir?" But he looked ahead without a word. And then I knew he could not hear. Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I have two ears, I am blessed indeed. The world is mine! And later, I stopped to buy some sweets, The lad who sold them had such charm, I talked with him. If I were late, it would do no harm. But as I turned to go, he said to me, "I thank you sir. You've been so kind. It's nice to talk with folks like you." "You see," he said, "I am blind." Oh God forgive me when I whine, I have two eyes, I am blessed indeed. The world is mine! With legs to take me where I want to go, With ears to hear the things I need to know, With eyes to watch that radiant sunset glow. Oh God, forgive me when I whine, I am blessed indeed! The world is mine! written by: Og Mandino |
Patti Cake, Patti Cake, Baker's man Bake a cake, As fast as you can. Let's have a Party, And all join in, For Patti Cake, Patti Cake, Our Best-est Friend! love you, Patti, ginny |
Now this was the first little ditty which seem to inspire all the others! |
Patty got a pair of wheels With potty on to go Riding round and round the place She sure was going slow Got a call from mini mall Said come shop for free Patti she go on the wheels And said Oh gosh whoppie See that wheelchair going fast In and out of stores Oops that was a traffic cop He's spread out on the floor Pattie got a breath or two Said I better go Opps she said I'll stay right here My potty's right below. now lets keep this going girls.. lol lol Fran |
Then the petty, paltry cop, Said, "Patti, I'm arresting you. Your porta-potty's much too fast, And you're a woman driver, too." Patti said, "You don't scare me, I know what to do, Out of my way," she threatened, "Or I'll run over you." Now to be run over by a porta-potty Is something very new, And the petty, paltry cop, Took off running down the avenue. Patti chased him in her chair, And ran him down anew, Scraped him up and flushed him down, Her porta-potty, too Now the moral of the story's this, Don't mess with Patti in what you do, She may flush you down her porta-potty, And you won't like the view! Ginny Okay - it's your move... (LOL) |
Patti Patti, what did you do that dear policeman is turning blue its time you learned how to behave I told you yesteday to please just wave But did you listen...OH NO indeed you chose to race right down the street hitting that poor old cop on the beat his head now aches as do his feet So now your grounded, here me roar go sit in your room and close the door No more sneaking or out to play you're grounded girl for the rest of the day! hehehe...thats the best I can do *chuckling* hugs...Nancy !~ Lotus |
Down the aisle of tissue paper Pattie grabbed the best! And found a magazine in flight and thought..."I am really blessed!" She found a display of fountains... with water trickling fine... and joined right in the chorus til the security guard declined... ***grin*** Just had to add a verse or two..... That was tooo cute.. Big HUGS Anita |
Well the combined talents of these writers all felt that they deserved the Potlitzer Award and so they are having to share this much coveted award. |

But wait...there is a "late" entry. And our writer has created her own award. We will have to check with the committee to see if this is allowed! |
WAIT! We ain't done, not by a lick! I win I win sure as heck! |
uhhhmmmm , (clearing smoker's throat) Patti Cake Patti Cake I did jump in the lake :o) It's my chair you can take I smiled with glee I could forsake So when it arrives in all it's glory For you it will have a history Indeed it will have a story! In that wheelchair I did ride, For a year it stayed close at side. So when it gets there do yer duty Don't just sit there and go poopie. ~ lacks cadance Franny I'm honored to be in such company! Love to you all and Pat especially. Barb |
Since absolutely no one from the committee voiced dissent this poem is accepted with the Award! Congratulations Barb! |
Ahhhhhhhh There is an entry just in, and it is the combined efforts of Bev from Sunny San Diego and Gaby from probably cold and wintery Vienna. Thank you ladies for your joint works. And but of course, you two shall share the Potlitzer Award. |
Patti is so sweet and fair, Kind words she does share, Little smiles on her face, Frowns they do swiftly erase. But why is it she smiles that sweet? 'cause she ain't got warts on her feet, It is a pinky winky something on wheels, Pat won't sit there to eat her meals! co-authored by Bev and Gaby |
And now as promised, you will find pictures of the Ladies. I have not put your names under the picture.....hehehehe... must keep some things secret. So I am sure that you will recognize yourself!!!!! |

A Special Gift to The World Famous Potlitzer Girls |
The World Famous Potlitzer Girls.... This is my gift to all of you as we travel our many paths of seeking love and happiness. I feel that we are a unique group of friends who are so fortunate to have met. We have shared our hearts, our sorrows, our frivolity and our dreams. All these things must be tended like a garden...always to be nurtured and treasured. I love you all. ~ Pat ~ |

Thank You Gaby... this is indeed lovely. |
"Now you understand Just why my head's not bowed. I don't shout or jump about Or have to talk real loud. When you see me passing It ought to make you proud. I say, It's in the click of my heels, The bend of my hair, the palm of my hand, The need of my care, 'Cause I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me." Maya Angelou |
THE POTLITZER PEARLS The Potlitzer Pearls are a group of girls, Some will never see fifty again, But, being older, They can be bolder, And devote quality time to their friends. The Potlitzer Pearls are polished and fine, They have their own patina and glow, One may admire them, Even desire them, All were designed and refined long ago. The Potlitzer Pearls, well matched, but distinct, They celebrate each other with glee, A strand of fine pearls, A band of fine girls, Imbued with a radiant esprit. Virginia (Ginny) Ellis |

The Potlitzer Pearls ~ You and me.... You brought another friend... And then there were 3.... We started our group.... Our circle of friends... And like that circle... There is no beginning or end... We are that "circle of friends"... Our Potlitzer Pearls have formed a perfect circle. This is truly a rare circle of friends who I believe are Phenominal Women. This page is dedicated with lots of love to these special ladies. |

October 5, 2001 What fun and gaiety we all had last night. I certainly had tears running down my cheeks from giggling so much. Of course it was all in good spirit and I am amazed at the talents of my special friends. Oh yes, they are considered to be fine women, up-standing, pillars of our society, and who just happen to have a unique gift of writing. Afterall... they all have their own web sites to prove that. Now far be it for me to hide these true talents from the rest of the web world. Feel that I should share. Now I would like to present in a very decorious mood, the fine poems that were written on the spur of the moment. And then perhaps you might like to see what all these women look like. I found some interesting pictures of each of them. |
