French Fried Onion Rings |
1 large Spanish or Bermuda onion 2/3 cup milk 1/2 cup flour 3/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt |
Peel onion, cut into 1/4 inch slices and separate into rings. Heat fat or oil ( 1 inch deep ). to 375 in large skillet. Beat remaining ingredients with rotary beater until smooth. Dip each onion into the batter, letting excess drip into bowl. Fry a few onions at a time in hot oil about 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Drain. Serve hot. |
**NOTE..If making several place in warm oven to keep hot. If using self rising flour, omit baking powder and salt. 3 to 4 Servings |
